Aerial acrobatics are when you climb, pose, flip, and do various other physical feats on apparatuses such as...
Silks (what we currently teach): this is a snazzy term for very strong, long fabric that hangs from its middle in such a way that you can grab/climb its two ends that are dangling towards the ground. They are made from synthetic materials, not actual silk.
Slings/Hammock: this is just an aerial Silk that hangs from the ends rather than the middle -- it creates a loop you can play with.
Straps: this references two very strong, long pieces of webbing that are hung together. They are similar in some ways to silks, but much thinner.
You don't need any special amount of strength, flexibility, or athleticism to start! Come where you're at and we'll go from there.
Close-fitting athletic clothes (or at least, nothing too baggy). Covering skin is useful to avoid fabric burns -- we recommend that you wear sleeved shirts and sweatpants/leggings, rather than tank-tops/crop-tops and shorts. You'll be going upside down, so we also request a long, tucked-in undershirt or leotard/biketard/singlet/unitard under your outer shirt. Supportive undergarments are also highly recommended.
